TOURS​

As well as being a minute away from the lively Boulevard with its amphitheatre and a host of bars, restaurants – THE place where locals and tourists meet, eat and drink, many adventures await you. Guided tours with an English speaking guide can be arranged for you on arrival, or in advance. From a simple boat trip with a trusted local boatman, or aspeedboat to one of the attractions further afield, through to a sea plane safari or a three borders river excursion.

From your base at Boulevard 251 there are many fascinating things to do and see.

We can arrange tours with a trusted bi-lingual guide to accompany you.
For lengthy jungle and river trips wear suitable clothing and take a bottle of water (free from the Pantaleon Lounge). We also have a limited supply of rubber boots.

Belen Market.​

This bustling suburb of floating houses and buildings, the Venice of Iquitos, is a revelation. Mix with the local people and fishermen. Wonder at the selection of exotic jungle fruits and native meats. In Pasaje Paquito (Medicine Street) you will find a wide range of natural jungle medicines and things like a monkey’s penis* for luck and boa constrictor oil for arthritis. (The earlier in the day, the better.) (* We hope you don’t buy things like this that encourage exploitation of animals.). Half Day

Visit to C.R.E.A. Animal rescue centre

where you will see the animals and learn about their rehabilitation from the dedicated team. Half day.

Transport by road 15 miles out of Iquitos to join the trail into the Allpahuayo Mishana National Reserve. Full Day

Pilpintuwasi Animal orphanage, Butterfly Farm and Kukama Community in the town of Padre Cocha

By boat and Motocar. Learn about the life of butterflies, and hear the sad stories of the “orphans” that include parrots, toucan, felines and more, then visit the community and watch their songs and dances: Half Day

Don Pedro Farm, Barrio Florido village and tower

See how the local river folk live and see them tending their banana and yucca gardens. Take a picture of the 600 year old Lupuna tree. Feed the caiman, piranha and paiche (the world’s largest fresh water fish). Climb the tower to enjoy the Amazon view: Full Day

Monkey Island

By boat from which you will navigate the mighty Amazon River through dolphin territory and study the flora and fauna in route. Interact with up to 8 species of monkeys which inhabit the island. Full day

Manzanillo Lagoon

A trip through Itaya river. Hike in the jungle to see and hear exotic birds, wild monkeys and maybe catch a glimpse of a sloth. Maybe do some fishing. Full Day

Bora & Yagua Tribe Villages

Take a short boat trip into Nanay and Momón river to meet and enjoy the company of descendants of old tribes, who will show authentic dances and speak their language. Half Day

FLOATING RESTAURANTS

4 Floating Restaurants: El Gran Yacare, El Barranquito and El Bufeo. By boat from Nanay port. An excellent opportunity to swim in the river. Or eat beside and swim in the pool at the nearby floating Al Frio y Al Fuego.

MUSEUMS

Amazonico Museum.- Just about 400 meters away from us, you can find a gallery of interesting pictures about Iquitenean artwork and history. 2 hours. Boat Museum Ayapua.- This is a restored boat from the rubber age in Iquitos located in Castilla Square (Plaza Castilla). See pictures of old Iquitos, old clothing and watch the movie Fitzcarraldo. 2 hours
